Just completed a new Encaustic painting. This latest one was inspired by an agate that I have had for quite a while. Even though the agate is gray, I decided to add color thus the beautiful pink and peach tones you see in “Agate Beauty” . I find my frames at local antique shops, junk stores, Habitat Home Stores or yard sales. This particular work is also featured on my YouTube video that shows the process involved (without giving away too many of my secrets) in the making of an Encaustic. Encaustic is a medium that involves mixing beeswax, Damar resin and pigments. It is then fused or burned in with heat.
